Quick answer
DEPENDS — worth RM98 only at the last slot of the day

You are paying RM98 (about US$24) for roughly 90 minutes covering the Skybridge on level 41 and the observation deck on level 86. A Malaysian pays RM35 for the same ticket, so budget the number you will actually be charged rather than the “from US$5” a reseller showed you. The building is the best thing about it, and you cannot photograph a building you are standing inside — so if what you want is the postcard shot of the Twin Towers, spend the money at KL Tower instead. Book the last slot before sunset, go up in daylight and come down in the dark, and it earns the money. A midday slot does not.

What you actually get

What the Petronas ticket includes

One ticket, two stops, one lift each way, and a fixed time slot you cannot move once you are inside. There is no wander-at-your-own-pace option — the whole visit is shepherded and takes about 90 minutes door to door.

You are taken first to the Skybridge on level 41, the double-decker link between the towers at 170m. It is the part everyone photographs from below and the part that most surprises people from above: it is short, it is narrow, and you get roughly 10–15 minutes on it. A second lift then takes you to level 86, the observation deck at 370m, where you get another 20 minutes or so before you are moved along.

The view from 86 is genuinely wide. You can trace the whole Klang Valley, pick out Merdeka 118 to the south-west and KL Tower on its hill to the west, and see how completely the city is ringed by forest. What you cannot see, from either level, is the Petronas Twin Towers. That sounds obvious written down and it is still the single most common complaint in the review pile.

Capacity is the reason to book early. The tower sells a strictly limited number of slots per day and it is the one attraction in Kuala Lumpur that genuinely runs out — Klook alone has pushed 70,000+ bookings against only 2,100 reviews, which is what a capacity ceiling looks like from the outside. In practice, book at least three days ahead for a weekday slot and a week ahead for a weekend or a school holiday.

The opening pattern catches people out constantly. It runs Tuesday to Sunday, 09:00–21:00, last admission 20:30, plus public holidays — and it is closed on Mondays except the second and fourth Monday of each month. Check the calendar date before you build a day around it.

What you pay against what a Malaysian pays

This is the most useful table on this site and no reseller will show it to you. Malaysian residents with a MyKad pay a separate, much lower gate price at nearly every ticketed attraction in the city, and the figure headlined online is very often theirs rather than yours.

Who it suits

Is the Skybridge for you?

First-timersHard to fly home having not gone up. Take the sunset slot and it holds up.
CouplesThe last slot of the day is genuinely romantic. The midday one is a queue with a view.
FamiliesUnder-eights get more from Aquaria or the KLCC fountains for a fraction of the money.
SoloFine, but shepherded — you get no say over pace, and 90 minutes is 90 minutes.
BudgetRM98 buys about twelve hawker meals. KLCC Park below is free and photographs better.
LuxuryThe Skybridge dining add-on is the only real upgrade, and it books out well ahead.

Where to buy the Petronas ticket

Almost every ticketed attraction in Kuala Lumpur charges foreigners more than Malaysians — Petronas is RM98 against RM35, a 180% gap. Resellers headline the MyKad rate. Every price on this site is the non-MyKad rate you will actually pay, and the gate price sits next to the reseller price so you can see the markup.

GetYourGuide

Timed-entry e-ticket for the Skybridge and level 86. The gate price for a non-MyKad adult is RM98, so treat anything meaningfully above that as a convenience fee and anything far below it as the resident rate in disguise.

Ninety shepherded minutes: the Skybridge at 170m, level 86 at 370m, a fixed slot and a gift shop. A genuinely good view of everything except the Twin Towers.

Verdict. Do both, in that order, on the same evening. Take the last Skybridge slot of the day, come down after dark and walk straight out into KLCC Park for the 20:30 fountain show — the RM98 buys the inside and the RM7 buys the photograph. If you can only do one and you are counting ringgit, the park wins, and it is not close.

Questions people actually search

Petronas Twin Towers FAQ

How much are Petronas Twin Towers tickets in 2026?

RM98 for a non-Malaysian adult and RM50 for a child or senior. Malaysians with a MyKad pay RM35 and RM17. One ticket covers both the Skybridge on level 41 and the observation deck on level 86 — there is no cheaper Skybridge-only option.

Do I need to book Petronas tickets in advance?

Yes. It is the one attraction in Kuala Lumpur that reliably sells out, because daily slots are capped. Book at least three days ahead for a weekday and about a week ahead for a weekend, a school holiday or the Hari Raya period.

Is the Petronas Skybridge open on Mondays?

Usually not. It runs Tuesday to Sunday plus public holidays, and opens on Mondays only on the second and fourth Monday of each month. Check the calendar date before you plan a Monday around it.

What time should I book to see the sunset?

Take the last slot that starts before sunset — around 19:00 in August. You go up in daylight, the city lights come on while you are at level 86, and you come down in the dark. It is the biggest single quality difference between a good visit and a mediocre one.

Is Petronas or KL Tower better for photos?

KL Tower, clearly. You cannot photograph the Twin Towers from inside the Twin Towers, and KL Tower's open-air Sky Deck at 300m is the vantage point that puts them in frame. Petronas is the better building to be inside; KL Tower is the better camera. The full comparison is on our three-way tower page.

Why is the online price so much lower than RM98?

Because the headline figure is usually the MyKad resident rate. Klook has advertised Petronas “from US$5.25” — that is RM35 for a Malaysian. The non-MyKad rate on the same listing works out around US$17. Always click through to the ticket type before you assume a bargain.

Can you go up the Twin Towers for free?

No, but the view most people actually want is free. KLCC Park, directly below, is where the postcard photograph is taken from, and the Lake Symphony fountain shows at 19:30 and 20:30 cost nothing.

Is the Skybridge frightening if you don't like heights?

Less than you would expect. The Skybridge at 170m is enclosed and level 86 is a glass-walled interior deck rather than an open ledge. If open-air heights are the problem, this is the easier of KL's two towers — the KL Tower Sky Deck is the one with the glass box you stand on.
